In case of a dental emergency, it's important for parents to take prompt action. Here are some steps to follow:

  • Toothache: Clean the area around the affected tooth with warm water and use dental floss to remove any food particles that may be causing discomfort. Do not place aspirin or any other painkiller directly on the tooth or gums. Contact a pediatric dentist for further guidance.
  • Knocked-out tooth: If a permanent tooth is knocked out, gently rinse it with water (do not scrub) and try to reinsert it into the socket. If this is not possible, place the tooth in a container of milk or saliva and seek immediate dental attention. Time is crucial for successful reimplantation.
  • Broken tooth: Rinse the mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Contact a pediatric dentist as soon as possible.
  • Loose tooth: If a primary (baby) tooth is loose, encourage your child to gently wiggle it out. However, if a permanent tooth is loose, contact a pediatric dentist for evaluation.

In any dental emergency, it's important to contact a pediatric dentist for guidance and immediate attention.
